Found this old Popular Science article about a gas-turbine VW project.

1/2" Electric Solenoid Valve 12-Volt Air, Water... B21N | eBay

Found an in-line electronic shut-off valve that can be used to turn off the fuel supply when no power is applied.  This solves the intermittent or slow leakage past the carburetor float valve or use for security and safety.
